So the other day I was getting ready for work and I literally didn’t put any effort into my outfit. I grabbed something out of my capsule wardrobe. Threw it on( I didn’t even iron it) and was going to walk out the door. My husband stopped me and said “Your shirt looks balled up! How do you want to be a manger and going to work like that?” Now I was feeling awful. So I went on my way any way. I know bad Mara! But I was tired, and not feeling well. The sad part is once I got to work I was feeling so self-conscious about my appearance that I kept my jacket on all day.
But my husband was right how do you want to be a manager and you look any ol’ kind of way? I pondered this all day. I looked at the managers at my job to see how they were dressed. None of them were in wrinkled clothes, some were a little sloppy but for the most part they were all nicely dressed and you could identify they were managers. So I decided to get my life! Next day I woke up got dressed in my best for winter work attire. Stripped sweater, long white collared shirt that covers my bottom, thick fleeced lined leggings and riding boots. I looked professional, I was comfortable and most of all i was warm! If you’re from the Midwest or north you understand the importance of being layered and warm.
Are you dressed for your dreams?
You’ve claimed that management position at work, you’ve decided to become a real estate agent, you’ve decided to become an entrepreneur, you decide to become a real estate broker, or an insurance agent whatever it is that you have decided and claim to be. But are you dressed for it?

You want to be a manager but are you dressed like a manager? Or are you rocking jeans, tennis shoes and a sweatshirt to work when you should be in a nice ironed blouse or shirt, slacks, dress shoes?
You want to be a real estate agent are you in a suit and tie or a nice dress or are you meeting client in leggings and T-shirts?
Whatever is it that you want to be and working towards, are you dressed for it now? If not it’s time to change. Find out how the people in the positions you want to be are dressed then develop your style around those looks. Not mock those looks but let those looks inspire you.
My signature work style include jeans, blazers and heels. But since it is cold and snowy here in the Midwest I wear a sweater, leggings or jeans and riding boots. In the spring and summer I wear a cotton Always Ready Skirt, a jean jacket or blazer and a blouse, with flats or wedges. Always simple yet chic just for me.
